Short Term Leases?

I dont dont know much about leasing, but are there companies that let you lease a used car for like 4 months or something? Id love to try something new for the winter.

I've never heard of it. Get a standard lease and then break it with someone like leasebusters.

theoretically, if there was a several month lease, you'd be paying through your ass, as the greatest depreciation happens in the first year. depreciation is factored into the monthly lease price

I was thinking used cars a couple years old. Where could I go if I wanted a car for 4 Months? I don't want to go through the hassle of buying a winter beater.

Actually, for a short term lease, then you should look into LeaseBusters for guys looking to get out. There are not too many good deals, but if a guy is desperate to get out, it might be worth it for you.

Please remember, not all deals on LeaseBusters are great. Avoid the guys that put $0 down, and not offering too much of a cash incentive.

If the car is under warranty, then there is less risk. Always have the car inspected before doing anything, because you have return the car in good condition at the end.

Here is an example.

2004 Chevrolet Optra, $282.95/month
$1000 down, 6 months remaining, 26,000KM left in allowance
If the original leasee, pays the transfer fee, $500 down may not be that bad.

Another Example

2005 DODGE Ram 1500 Pickup 1500 4x4 Quad Cab, $446.09/Month, and $1000 cash incentive
With Transfer fees, you’ll probably pocket $500.00. 13000KM left.

Never lease a car yourself, and then try to get out afterwards. That's too much of a hassle. You don’t want to be the guy posting on LeaseBusters or Autotrader trying to break his lease.

Another option is, befriend a good used car dealer, and pay him $200-$300 to take you to a dealer auction to buy a car for you. You can buy a car very cheap, drive it for 6 months, and then sell it for pretty much what you bought it for at an auction. Basically, it turns out to be a free car.
