Can you describe the light? If its the far left and green, maybe foglights?

Oh ok, well its the "check engine" light. It just means something set off a code in your car. Just go to your mechanic and they will check it out for you by scanning it. If you dont know where to take it to, try one of our sponsor's shops. RMP or Bimmersport are two great ones.

check engine light
hey guys, yes its a check egine light.. I had my local mechanic hook it up to the computer and he said the error code wasnt a generic one and BMW would probably only figure it out.. "P1470" is the code and it said "Leakage diagnostic pump control circuit electrical" The check engine light would come up a few times before and the previous owner of the car told me to buy a new gas cap and it will elimate the problem, I bought a new cap and the light popped up and wouldnt go away, I had my mechanic erase the error code and the dash light isnt there anymore so hopefully its nothing serious and wont come back. If anyone knows for sure what this code means then let me know as I hope its nothing serious. Thanks

Might be your evap cannister system in the rear thats connected to your fuel tank. Maybe something unplugged, or something leaking/cracked.
Here's a diagram of that system. I would bring it to a tech to check it out if you cant see anything.

Did you tighten the fuel cap properly? Sometimes it's the simplest things.

cap clicks
hey, ill be taking my car to the mechanic bright and early tommorow so the more things for me to tell him to check the better, and yes the cap clicks when its properly sealed so I know its not the gas cap..Thanks
Tom
P.S. Someone else told me to try reassemling and grease the end of the clips and then assemble it back if that doesnt work, he also said to try cleaning the fuel sending units.. could this fix it aswell? Thanks

purge valve plug
hey guys, so my mechanic put the car on a hoist and noticed the purge valve plug was actually not plugged in, and also its clip had been broken and taped back on but he suggest to get a new one in order for the check engine light to go away.. can anyone tell me where to find this plug? I didnt have time to check at the local bmw dealer but my mechanic said they might not sell just the plug itself but they might does anyone know? Thanks

The best and probably the only place to get the plug would be the dealer. they will just the plug but might need to read the part number off the old one in order to get the correct connector.
