I had them on my lower fogs on my E39, they kept burning out, I had to replace them twice in less than a year, my OEM bulbs lasted me over two years & were cheaper to.

My fogs are blinding people lately, and they're not even HID! I need to figure out a way to keep them pointing down.

There are screw adjustments on your fog light mounts. Take off your brake duct to access it.

I bought 3 sets of Osrams last year around June or so... I blew 3 bulbs within a week just this last October... 2 Going To Bav Auto and then one fog a few days later.. and I can see where you are coming from, cause I store my car for around 5 months a year, so I could easily see 2 sets blown.. Crazy, I'll spend my 12$ a bulb at the dealer instead.

The best non-HID bulb on the market is called a Toshiba HIR bulb. They are not available in stores and can only be found on the internet. They're rare and a little pricey, but I had read an extremely detailed experiment that concluded these were the best halogen bulbs available. If you have good search skills you may be able to find this experiment. Some guy went through the trouble of attaching a set of euro e36 headlights to an external power source (so they were removed from the car). He conducted the experiment using 6 different popular bulbs all which boast superior performance. This guy aimed the lights accordingly onto a grid that he made on a wall. He then measured the candles at different points on the grid and translated that into understandable graphs and plots to demonstrate the ability of each bulb. Don't waste your time with Sylvania SilverStars. I've had too many that just go to shit. The key to performance is actual light output. Changing the color of the projected light (which is what these companies do) gives the consumer the false sense of better light. If anyone is interested, I can provide an e-mail address of someone that sells them.

^ I'll keep that in mind when I shop for my next set, as I bought a pair of SilverStar Ultras. Apparantly, they're supposed to provide greater longevity over regular SilverStars.
