vanos ?

I notice a small jerk when vanos activates, specially in 4'th, it was all smooth before, unnoticable. Schould I be concerned? It almost fells like a bad downshift or a small clutch drop. It's a 99 M3 S52

unplug your vanos solenoid and try again.

From what I remember of vanos it is always on. It is not like vtec.

It happens around 3700 to 3800 RPM, I'm pretty sure thats when vanos kicks in.

have you been driving honda before your bmw??? the vanos does not KICK IN, its on ALL the time, yes ALL THE TIME, you dont even know about it, but vanos is still kicking

and as was suggested, disconnect the solenoid
!!
