How often do you Run Red Lights?

Just curious... you know.. its 11pm. at a quiet local intersection, look left, look right - no cars for 1km each way.

Do you sit and wait for 2-3 minutes, or do you just say whatt the ****? and just go.

Lately i've been doing the former a lot more. (especially on my bike which never trips the light sensors)

It saves both time and gas and the environment. The affect on traffic safety / society is nil.

as an aside - in Halifax, come midnight or so, most of the lights turn into flashing red "stop signs" -its a pretty good idea.

I never have. It makes sense when "no one" is around... but I guess I'm a chump.

Also in Calgary, a lot of lights turn into flashing yellow/red on weekends or low traffic times.

I don't even slow down. I speed up.

the faster I go through the intersection, the quicker i'm through.

Plus, i'm chameleon, so I blend in, and cops don't even notice anything happened.

Never have. Not worth the risk that a cop is there that one time!

I've done it once or twice, but that was only after sitting at the light for a couple of minutes (at really small intersections)... It's not really worth the risk.

Btw, watch out for red light cameras if you DO run the red light.

nope...but there is ONE intersection where the light literally takes 4-5 mins, so if there is nobody there, i take a right pull a u-turn
