Don't get pissed at e36's just because you got a lemon.

p.s. your friends are driving lemons too.

3 years ago in oct I bought my 93 318is for $4300'ish tax in..had 240(?) on it
passed safety except for a few minor things:
dead cluster bulb for the blinker, burnt out taillight & a loose heat shield.
passed it the next day.

3 months later... leaking strut, muffler split open, ball joint, tie rods, washer for the rad (leaked coolant) & i needed brakes.

then i turbo'd the thing but lets not even go into $$ what that started//

suffice it to say had i just left it stock..i'd be at around $8K for a nice 'reliable' car on coilovers with e46 or style 5's for wheels.

also i've recently had a intermittent issue with the heater fan not coming on & windows not working..
yeah thats Stock shit that has broke, but guess what its a 14year old car!!!

i've owned a few Vw's so all this is like minor & normal to me..
having to replace everything attached to your motor every 3~4yrs (vw) is not
e36 parts are also cheaper then mk3 vw parts!

The problem with used bimmers is that people usually dont do the proper repairs or use the proper quality parts when needed.

I think everyone here can agree that with bimmers you need first line parts (this is what ive learned from my shop and personal ownership of these cars)

When you get an older bimmer with all kinds of aftermarket crap, it will never keep up. Im sure there is someone that will disagree, im just posting from my own experience (im no expert).

If you want to have baller status and own a bimmer, you gotta have your wallet ready to keep that shit going, or else it turns into a lemon, quickly.

[quote=vadim321go;1065498]i think the biggest thing about our cars is maintenance. as long as you take care of it, it will take care of u.QUOTE]

EXACTLY...maintain your car, and it will have NO REASON to do stupid things to you, only things youll have to worry about is regular maintainence ......
simply put, jap cars are for cheap ppl
bmws are for ppl that want to enjoy life

maintain your cars..you wont have any problems

cant expect to drive a bmw and pay toyota prices for maintainence

I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune with your E36. But I have to disagree with you.

I've owned my 94 for 5 years now, bought it used at 230KM, I'm at 296KM. Never winter driving(with me) changed rack and pinion, 4 shocks, back brakes, alternator. Regular maintenence, and no problems. Do I want to get rid of it cause of costs..Not really cause it is a 14 year old car.

Ford used 96 with 140KM on the clock, owned for a year now. Batt, Alternator, Brakes, Coils, Shocks..= more $$$ dumped into it then my E36 and drove it for 5 months in total.. Do I want to get rid of this POS... yes.

I have to agree with Japanese cars, I had a 94 tercel bought it new and it crapped at 320KM.. The only cost I put into it was my gas tank..the other stuff was regular maintenence. After I get rid of this ford, I'm getting another toyota..
