check brake light circuit....wtf?

on occasion, my 1999 328is displays the CHECK BRAKE LIGHT CIRCUIT and it pisses the sh-t right outta me, it keeps blinking until i turn the car off, and when i turn it back on its not there anymore, this doesnt happen often but it happens enought to concern me. i checked my brake lights, everything is fine and working, so why does this warning light flash then?

Your brake switch needs to be replaced!

^ ditto...its very common on E36's. Changing the switch should fix it.

^^^seen this twice myself, but I thought it had something to do with swapping my tails to clears so I didn't think much of it. where's the switch? what's it worth? hard to diy?

the switch is right by the brake pedal (the pedal actually pushes the button on the switch). Its an easy DIY, the part costs $20 and it takes about 10 minutes to install, I've had to do it on both my e36s.
