Question Repairing Damaged Rims

So one of my Rims was damaged when it got in a fight with a large pot hole (one might consider this pot hole actually a cave, but none the less, it sucked). The Rim almost balanced out nicely with stick on weights piled almost to the rotor but once the speedo hits 130 km/h she shakes like a leaf.

I have the rim on the drivers rear which is prolly the best place to keep it given it's current state. I'm hoping that I can get the wheel repaired rather then replace it.

Does anyone have any stories or experiences with repairing untrue rims? If so, how much did it cost, and where did you get it done? I'm sand blasting all 4 then powder coating a dark gunmetal come winter time, but I'd like to have them "go" before they "show"

There is a place in Etobicoke (Toronto) that repairs rims. I can find their # and let you know if you want.

Hi,
I'm in Montreal, but to give you a rough price estimate...
I got two untrue rims repaired and it cost me $75 each. But it can cost more if there is some welding involved (if the rims cracks when they try to true it). If there is welding involved, I'd just forget about it.

i was looking at a used set of rims before and they needed refinishing, i called Precision Rim Repiar and over the phone without actually seeing the rims the guy quoted me around 3-4 hundred for all 4. (about 7/8 months ago)

their banner's mid way down the page.

i hear there's a company that does pick up and drop offs too but i can't remember their name. you could google them. i think i found out about them from a thread somewhere.

i guess it really depends on the rims you have, how expensive they are, and how much you like them. if repairing and refinishing cost that much you might consider picking up a new set.

try Carcone's... Bloomington and Bayview. in Oak Ridges.

had an older set of 17's, and went curb hopping, bent, rim, comtrol arm. all that fun stuff. without re finishing the rim I think they charged me like $50. this was about 3-4 years ago.

Google up Carcones
