M3 Navigation

Hi all,
im new here, and am looking to buy an M3. There's the one i want for sale but doesnt have navi. i've been looking for about 2 months now and have noticed that M3's for sale with navi (6 spd coupe) are few and far between. I've heard that installing navi after the fact is expensive.

Can someone give me an idea? Has anybody installed bmw navigation system or an aftermarket one?

thanks.

I wish I had an M3 let alone one with a navi, I am not sure how much an install would be, but if you buy the navi and take it somewhere, I can imagine it would be too expensive.

hi, to retrofit navi on the m3 is easy. ususally just look on ebay you'll find all the parts you will need. the parts for the navi would cost around 2-3k depending... you'll need the navi screen (obviously) and the MK4 navi computer...

I have nav and sirius (bought the bmw siriustuner in the states its not available here) on my display in my m3 its nice but it shouldnt be stopping you from buying one without. The garmins are cheap now and better for nav anyway.

If i didnt have the nav display I would have bought a garmin and the the sirius stiletto unit even though it wouldnt have been as cool as the nav display.

The install to do it yourself is not that easy imo and not worth the money.

I have done the retrofit, and it is not easy, unless you are very good with that sort of thing.

I've done it on a 5 and 7 series and it was very straight forward. These cars are pre-wired for it so its plug-and-play.

Pej, what did you have a hard time with?

The interior has to be completely be removed, and I have large hands, and space it tight.

I did mine myself over the winter. Budget a weekend for your first install and you should be fine as long as you follow the instructions. The best DIY links that I have found are here http://home.comcast.net/~basicmailthree/BMWDocs.html
