oh, i guess it's back to your over-exhausted M3 praising...
hey, MAG QUOTER...GIVE IT UP....
here's one for you that magazines don't quote....
200km/h and up
540 to M3....
jesus...when shitload of people say it's possible, then its ****in possible...doesnt mean shit that 540 is faster car or that its going to happen everytime, it means that it can take M3 at HIGH speeds...just like M3 can smoke 540 off the line and up to that speed, which makes the M3 a faster car...up until that point..who races at 200+ anyways, but if someone does, that will be the outcome...
and noone said M3s and 540s are "comparable cars", where did you read that?
335 is a different beast though, but like everyone else says, maybe the guy let off or couldnt drive or had a hand-brake half way on (my favorite )....who cares!!
who knows, maybe your Zaz will demolish a 540 one day...not 'comparable cars' but it's possible, dont ya think?

By the time the M5 reaches 200KM, the M5 is ahead of the M3 by 12 meters. Which is about 4 car lengths.
distance for M5:
d = (22.22m/s + 55.56m/s)*0.5*17.2s = 668.908
Distance for M3:
acceleration = (55.56m/s - 22.22m/s)/18s = 1.852222
final velocity at 17.2 seconds using acceleration
vf= vi + at
vf= 22.22m/s + 1.852222(17.2)
= 54.078
distance traveled using final velocity
d = (22.22m/s + 54.078m/s)*0.5*17.2s = 656.16m
M5 distance subtract m3 distance
668.908m - 656.16m = 12.745m
So yea, they're pretty close at 200km/h, and yes, I was bored.

kinda beat me too it. the m5 is far faster on the highway than the m3, 17 seconds to 0.8 seconds is a lot of distance. however my previous statement stands.

12 meter's at 200km/h doesn't seem very far appart. Think about it, if you were traveling at that speed and there was a car 12 meter's from you, you'd think that's close.

Put down that crack pipe and relax.
P.S. M3 is faster than 540 and so is 335i in this race.

0.8 seconds is quite a bit Julian, not a whole lot but my vision of close is nose to tail or less.

go pull out your measuring tape and measure 12 meters. It's not that far in terms of that kinda speed.

He had a mark D chip. and they were travelling on high speed not from 0/km to 100/km. 540 has a V8 which makes it really heavy and if we are talking about 0-100. for sure m3 beats it. But it is NOT, I have raced a 540 from 0-100 and 80/km-200km. I won the frist one with my frist bimmer , a e36 325is with nothing but a CAI. but lost real bad on the second race. 540 is heavier, but stronger, and when you talk about high speed race, BMW V8 OWNS.

BMW V8 isn't that heavy, it's a aluminum block & head, your 325 motors is just a tad lighter than the V8, and your 325 cannot beat a 540 from 0-100.
