^^ that sucks dude. Hope you get that SH** worked out.

So hilarious. I was JUST searching on this forum to see where people go to get their tinting done. I've heard that AUDIOhaven in Richmond Hill is good as well.

For those who went to Thornhill Tint:

- what kind of tinting do they use (not percentage)?
- Is metallic? Has it messed up anyone's AM reception?
- do they remove door panels?

I went to Thornhill Tint also. Richard is a class act!

1) Pricing varies - mine was $230 for 20% on the rear, and 35% on the sides of my E36 sedan. If you have tint already, there will be an extra cost to remove the old tint.

2) I believe they use Diamond Automotive Window Film, both metallic and non-metallic (for the rear windshield they use non-metallic ie. simple dye, and it's fade resistant so no worries about purpling). Comes with lifetime warranty against peeling, bubbling, or colour fading.

3) Yes, they partially loosen the door panels to have better access to the bottom of the window edges.

Also, Thornhill Tint does jobs for several authorized dealerships in the area, including BMW and Toyota. All their work is guaranteed for life, and you will NOT be dissapointed. Hope this helps!

FWIW, I'm going back to have mine swapped out to 20%. Should have gone with 20% to begin with!

I've heard lots of good things about Audio Haven, and their pricing is very competitive.

I had my cavalier tinted at Tint King in Rexdale 7 years ago, top of the line titanium line. Not one bubble yet.

i have to give props to my local shop - although its probably far from you guys. the address/number is in my sig. i've never seen anyone do a better job. if you want a price, call him (Al) and tell him greg sent you. i've had 2 of my cars done by his shop, one with cheapo CT crap that i had already, and he made that junk film look great.

he normally uses solar gard film, if i recall correctly. he'll do metallic, non-metallic, or ceramic film.

At first when I saw this thread, I was thinking, "oh oh, another tinting thread," because there were numerous from my searches, but this is probably the most informative one so far.

dbworld4k - thanks for all the info!

Personally, I'm more partial to shops who don't remove door panels. Removing them just loosens them up and is prone to rattling at a shorter time during the life of your car.

Just as an FYI, Jeff at Audio Haven says that they don't remove door panels.
