Ive been told that driving in 5th gear at
30mph or in your case in the states 30kmph
uses more fuel because the car has to work
harder is this true is it more efficient
and better to drive in 3rd or 4th at that
speed ?
will it use less fuel.

Umm... I don't think so guys. Accelerating at low rpms is slow but very efficient. You can even see it on your fuel consumption gauge. Having said that, I try to just cruise at low rpms and if I have to accelerate, do so very gently. Lately I've been going into 5th at 60km/h and cruising at that speed in 5th I do 5-6L/100km instead of 6-8 in 4th.

hmm... but the fuel consumption gauge is only measured depending on the rpms you are doing. But in this case, there is a different factor to consider... the speed of the car.
