amp started smoking but still works
ok this is really wierd i just got a new sub i wired it up, and as i was driving smoke started cominning out of the trunk pulled over opened the trunk and there as a lottt of smoke comming out of the amp, it was clearly comming from inside the amp i can see this because i have an MA audio amp and the cover has little holes all over it, i know sometimes smoke comes when the power wire touches another wire, put i am positive this wasnt the case, it was comming out of the amp for sure. So i thought ok amp is done i m screwed, the weird thing was started the car up and the amp worked just fine. Anyone know what this could have been? I know paul is one of the most knowledgeable guys on this forum when it comes to systems hes helped me out with some of my questions before, any idea what this might have been from paul or anyone else?

Impedance too low for the amp. Check your sub and amp specs as well as wiring layout (if sub is DVC).

electronics & smoke are never a good combination. There's most likely a resistor that is now a puddle of plastic inside your amp. You'll probably notice problems when you start to really work the amp.

Ditto..
do you blow alot of fuses? That's what happened to my old one, running it way to hot, blew fuses left and right and then one day poof smoke. Never worked again. That amp is gone now..
