I liked it Boots, but I think I'm ready to bite the bullet now. At ~ $620 USD shipped, it's a bargain.

Don't forget about duties if your shipping it across the border. It can make the deal not so great anymore.

I'll be shipping it to my mailbox. Even if I pay the duties (14.5% now?) I still end up far far ahead, as the price you see on the website has zero taxes applied to it. 799 + tax here, or 599 + tax there. That's lots of saving.

Yea just be careful, guy at worked had an iPhone shipped over, made the biggest mistake of letting them ship it UPS.

UPS called him said they have his package.
$55.86 (14% of 399)
+ another $55 in fees/BS.
= $110 when it got here.

The XTi is more than enough for you to start with, don't go crazy on lens yet. Work your way up so you know the quality difference. There is nothing wrong for pickin up non-L lenses but you can get good results shooting with non-L lenses depending on your skills too right.

But yeah, once you throw in an L lens to work with the XTi you'll be amazed, but start working you're way up if u know what im talkin about.. I loved that feeling when I finally got my L lens paired up with the XT I was working with..

Trev, there's no duty on camera and lenses, only tax and brokerage fees.

Axxe: PM me for prices, I have lenses and camera for sale:

28-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS, barely used
24-105mm F4L IS, brand new never used
70-200mm F4L, barely used
Rebel XT with 18-55mm lens and 4 extra batteries, used - perfect working condition.

Yes, I learned that lesson 3+ years ago when I ordered parts from BavAuto (another lesson learned too!). That's why I ship a shit tonne of parts to Buffalo, pick them up, declare, and drive over. 90% of the time they don't make you pay the duty.

Leonard, I think I'm going to go with the XTi, I've been hyped up about it all week , and I'm going to hold off on lenses for now. Thanks guys.

Actually, for items that's bought from B&H there's no brokerage fees either.

They only offer shipping by air (FedEx/UPS), so brokerage is already included in the shipping fee.

So in the end of the day, all you are paying is the listed price + 14% tax + shipping.

For point an shoot my Sony DSC-W1 rocks , as far as the rest my forever faithful Nikon FE and all Nikor lens from 24mm to 200mm , most used is the 35mm prime and the 35 to 105 telep. A collection of antique cameras Leica 3a , Speedgraphic, Rolleiflex, Rolliecord, Kodak Eastman just to name a few, and my fav a 1923 Phony Premo, one of these days Ide like to take this out and shoot with it as she was used in those days, all though the mixing of chemicals in order to take a photo in a tent as they did in that tyme, as is the process in making a flash pot that did not explode in ones face, seems a tad dangerous to my well being , however would be open to the task if anyone has the expertise in this area.Totally agree with Tifosi remarks about Leica , 35mm rangefider cameras not for everyone definitely not for the beginner, extremely well built cameras ,drop dead performance in the right hands, lenses well hard to beat the image quality of these marvelous hunks of glass, price yes expensive!
