light question

hey guys, im having a problem with my e36 328 My car likes to not start sometimes, so i have to push start...I think it might be the starter, when i turn the push the clutch in and turn the key it makes a tick noise and doesnt turn on...i get power aka stereo/heat and all...i tested and charged my batery and its fine...the thing is when i lock my doors my lights by my feet and the drivers side feet dont turn off? i know they use to...does anyone know if this could be draining my juice in my car? Usually after i drive it for about 15 minutes after push starting it can turn itself back on...but sometimes it needs to sit for a few hours/over night : /

Thanks, Tom

Could be a bad starter forsure. Also, could be a bad alternator, not charging the battery properly. That means that the battery itself may hold a charge fine, it just never gets fully charged by the alt.

Also, make sure there's nothing killing the battery when the car's off (accessories, power inverter, AE's, etc)

Low voltage does funny things to relays and DME's...

How did you test the battery? A clicking noise when you try to start the car is usually a battery issue. If it isn't new-ish, it may have kicked the bucket. If it is new-ish, it's one of 2 things, bad alternator not charging or a drain when the car is off. Do you have an alarm? Auto start? Any interior lights on? After market stereo with huge amps?

I had a similar problem in my 525i, I'd turn the key to the first stage all the lights and dash would come on, and then nothing just a couple of clicks, I replaced my starter and everything worked. It sounds like a starter to me but check the relays that could be it also.

test battery

well i had my buddy at point zero test and charge the battery for me he said it was .1volt off i think he said 12.4 or something...but he said it was fine...I dont have a alarm or car starter but I have a pretty big amp / sub but it was doing this before I put the stereo in and the stereo hasnt affected it any worse, Im almost positive its a starter, but I want to make sure because their costy..
