BMW Style 44 17" with Michelin Pilot Sports PS2

These came off my 2000 E46 Sedan and were standard in the sports package. The tires have been used for only one summer, driven very conservatively, and have much threads left. Tires size is 225/45/17. Tires alone cost me over $1100. There are some curb rashes on the rims and a more significant ding on one of them. Please see the pictures for detail.

I am asking for $1000 for the rims and tires.

Hope someone will find them a nice home.

Cheers!
Dom

I don't mind measuring it at all, but someone will need to teach me how to. I have read on the other posts how sellers describe their tires as having 80% left but I often wonder how they measure it and what to compare it with. If someone can give me the instructions (how and what tool to use), I am more than happy to provide the information.

As to whether I would sell the tires only.. I would rather not, as my new ride won't take these wheels. Hope you understand.

Cheers!

Just came back from the self storage. Tried my best but it was not easy to measure the tread depth. I came up with between 5-6mm, thought it really was hard to say as I didn't have the right tool to do it with. 5-6mm converts to 6.3/32 - 7.5/32 of an inch. Brand new tire has 10/32 of an inch according to a website.

The picture probably gives a more accurate representation than my measurements though.

Send a message via MSN to Quack
judging by the pic & how you measure it would seem you have about 75% tread left.

Thanks Quack!

No wonder some people complain about the michelin pilot sports for wearing out too quickly. Drive for a few months and 25% of it is gone already. Great tires though... amazing ride and super quiet. I will buy them again when I have to.

You can always make me an offer. I have a baby coming in a week's time so I may be desperate enough to get some money for diapers. You never know!
