Amsoil 5W-40 Euro, My opinions

I finally got around to an oil change with the Amsoil 5W-40Euro formula "Yorkie" hooked me up with, I've gotta say I didn't expect a noticeable difference BUT I was wrong the car actually runs quieter, and smoother, intrested to see if fuel economy improves aswell, this is damn good stuff.

yup, i'd like to know the price too.

Liqui-Moly 5W-40 also made a noticeable difference with my car. runs quieter and smoother, as you said.

the reason I asked about price is because a family relative is the regional Amsoil distributor... just wondering what you paid. I may be able to start getting the oil at a deal so I was comparing prices.

I know a guy that runs the Amsoil offices in Mississauga, his name is Rob. Is he your relative? He used to live across the street from me when we were in high school.

+1 for amsoil.

Its the evolution of oils. I started off with mobil 1, loved it. Switched to lubramoly, loved that more. Now i have amsoil in there, its even better.

Anyone interested in Amsoil PM me your yr/make/model/engine and I'll let you know which oil is recommended for you car and how much you'll need and pricing.

I can't post pricing online as it goes against the Amsoil dealership agreement but PM me and I'll get back to you within a day.

Just to give you an idea, their mid range oils (like Mikeee46's euro formula) are on par with the Mobil1/Syntec bunch.

Amsoil's best oil is about $2/qt more than Mobil1 at Ctire but it is far superior in protection and life. This is what I run in my car and I got .5 L/100km better fuel economy when I made the switch.

Heard from a guy at work who drives a hopped up precidia that he thought it was helping out his bottom end torque (minimally of course) because it was helping to seal up the rings, etc. better.

Any truth?

When I bought the 323is just over a year ago it had Motul 15W40 and I really liked that stuff, but I can't find it anywhere around here (London area). Then I tried Amsoil 10W30 and it was alright but a little too thin, I could hear the valves ticking too much. Then I tried Mobil 5W50, again it was ok, and it was quieter, but didn't like it as much as the Motul. And now I'm running Amsoil 5W40 Euro forumla and so far so good. I'll probably stick with it for a while. I'd like to try Royal Purple 10W40 but it's a little more expensive. I bought the Amsoil 5W40 Euro for $9.05 a quart at Jim's Speed Shop in London. Speaking of which, I need to do an oil change soon.
