so depressing..
The bodyshop guy at my work that I'm trading my 88 325is in return for thousands of hours of body work just got a 93 325i 5 speed for FREE
I should have never talked him into e30's cause then i would of got this car for free..
So ofcourse I'm talking swap already.. Anyone have links to the m50 swap..
And another important factor. this wouldn't classify it as a hot rod would it.?? I think we could just tell the emissions place what motor is in there..

from what I understand, the best thing to do is to buy the cd from zionsville that outlines every part and every procedure. those who don't buy it, wish they had afterwards.

It has to be registered as a "hot rod" with the Ministry of transport to qualify for emmisions exeption. Which also means it's registered that way with your insurance company too, unfortunatly $$$. So personally I wouldn't register it as such.
If you just don't tell the emissions place that you have that engine in there, I'm sure they would never know, and the M50 should put out way less emmisions than the M20 would. So you should be alright.

He's thinking of selling everything.. $ whats the going price for all this stuff to do the swap.? It's got 240k on it so I figure maybe he could get $1500 tops for everything.
You need anything off it tony?.. it's a 4 door though..
This is dave by the way..

*on the subject of Depressing...
depressing is getting your Water pump, belt & tensioner changed on your Jetta
(valve cover gasket too)
Only to find out that your starter wanted on that list, but only after you've driven away
so there you are push starting your car half an hour after dumping $250 on it.
 VW's

Doubt you'd like going from a 3:45 to a 3:15.
Although I'd be happy to install it for you just to see an end to my age old delema about installing a type 188 diff into a 318.
I think if you just change drive shafts and swap output flanges it's a direct swap.
Would have to actualy do it to be sure.

Thinking it's a bit much but hey I'm Irish, cheap ass is in my blood. I wouldn't bother unless you had the whole car to play with for experimenting.
240K is alot for an LSD clutch especialy since stock was only 25 % lock up, & it's most likly done espcialy if the car was originaly free to the now new owner who wouldn't know either way.
Find out if it's LSD.
I may have a buyer if it is & "if" your not interested for a 323 with an open 2:93 but not for that price.
Offer still stands, I'v done dirct swap diff's in 45 min & well experienced since I had to send mine back 2 X's.
1/2 fast shows and comes out well with my abuse.
Current diff has almost surpased it's warrenty trouble free, not even a shaving anymore....
