Yokohama ADVAN Sport Tires

Hi,

Has anyone tried the Yokohama ADVAN Sport tires? They're for a '91 M5. I've heard good things and they're $60 cheaper per tire than the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires I was leaning towards. Opinions welcolme. Thanks.

I run Yoko Advan Neovas, and they are freakin amazing.
I hear very good things about the Sports aswell. Now keeping that in mind, the PS2s do everything well, there is not one area where the tire is not great, I think that is where its strenght is.

Thanks guys. The PS2s are very solid tires, no weak spots like you said. They're also about 2-3 pounds lighter than the ADVANs each. How much of an effect does the extra unsprung weight really have in the end?

That said I'm really liking the ADVANs the more I hear and read about them.

I would not worry to much about the extra weight.

where are u thinking of getting ur advans? I'm kind of sold on the Neova's but if the Sports are a lot cheaper, I might go that route too.

The Neovas and Sport are diff tires. Once is all out max performance tire and the other is more of a do it all tire.
The Neova will handle better, but it will be harsher ride, and more noise, quicker wear and not as good in the rain, but it will stick better then any other tire out there, closests thing to an R compound tire.

I get all my tires from Tirecraft on Queensway in Mississauga. I've called around and they have amazing prices. I got winter and summer tires and Ronal LS rims for my E30 from there. Now I need new tires for the M. Check them out, I usually deal with Wayne.

I got 235/45/17 all around. Give them a call, 905-279-9292. They should be able to beat those prices you listed.

**UPDATE**

I ended up getting the Yokohama ADVAN Sport tires installed. I haven't driven on them much yet but initial impressions are very positive. This might be more of a reflection of how loud the Pirelli P7000 Supersport tires were but my ride is so smooth and quiet now. The sound in the cabin is totally different. Handling is improved and the ride isn't as rough. Awesome

Just saw your post today, but I have the same tires and love them. They are a lot quieter than I expected. I have only driven abt 500km on them, and first time in the rain today, but so far, I'm very happy
