Wiring question..

If I want to run 2 amps...one is 400 rms 4 channel, the other is hopefully gonna be 1k or so RMS mono(have not purchased it yet).

Well is it okay if I just buy 2 wiring kits, both 4 awg, both from lightning audio, one rated at 500rms the other rated at 1000rms......or do I need to get one of those hardcore 0 awg or 2 awg kits rated at like 1500+ rms, and then split the things up into the seperate amps, etc ?

You could probably get buy with 4 gauge into a distribution block with 4 gauge coming off it.

I will be running 4 gauge, then to a dist block that goes to 8 G, but my amps don't draw as much as you.

Get 2 AWG, and run it to a block and split it into two 4 AWG wires.

keeps it nice and tidy.

Oh ok... well um I kinda already have a 500 wt and 1000 wt wiring kits laying around, so, if possobile I would prefer to do that... is it safe ?

^^what gauge is the power & ground wire does those kits come with???I can't remember that.....the rule for this odd gauge(#2 or thicker)why??you will be running as much as 120 to 140 amps to the the amps and you will need a cap..

yep this is true.
but, from my own experience, i was pushing about 2000wRMS (metered it, between 80-100A continuous, so no bullcrap) through a single high quality 4 gauge power wire. felt it get a shade warm on long drawn out bass sections, but nowhere near dangerous. i was using a 2farad cap as well.

bottom line - single 4 gauge wire FTW. run lower gauge wire if you feel like it, but its likely to be overkill. it sure looks cool though
