M30 into E30... Need template for Mounts Brackets

Hey guys,

I'm about to embark on an M30 swap and need templates for the motor mounts / brackets. I want to fabricate them myself, but don't want to have to drop the engine in first to make the templates. Any help, pointers, etc on where to find the templates would be greatly appreciated.

The engine is going from this....

Into this...

Wish me luck!!!

He only responds to Polski and threats of physical violence.

Hi Rod,

This is what you asked me in the email.

"Hi again,

Hope all is well. Thanks for the information.

I'm also doing an M30 swap into the E30 vert, but I can't find the damn DIY
engine mount plans anywhere. I know they exist... do you know where I can
find the plans (or a set of mounts for less than the $350 they go for in
europe)?

Thanks
Rod"

I don't have plans, don't know where to find them and I don't have mounts less than $350. The set I bought for my swap cost over $ 400 by the time they got here and took over 1 month to arrive.

So my reply to you is 100% true

I will be installing mine after I install the e36 M3 steeting rack to do a test fit of the engine. I have to see how much heart breaking, sledge hammer pounding it will take to get the firewall bent in, to clear the engine head. I took the instrument cluster and the computer out, I don't want to subject them to all that shock from the pounding.

Raph.

Uh oh... looks like Sly and I are in trouble.

You're right Raph, on re-reading our emails, you didn't say you didn't have the mounts. But now that I know you do have the mounts....

Yes it is. It crashed right outside my door. So I bought it on the spot.

if you don't mind it would be nice to keep us udated on the swap and the problems you encouter
I need a new engine and i am rite now trying to get free shipping from europe but I would like to do something a bit special since it is not everyday you get to import an engine for free. But because i dont know anyone who does mechanics around here that can help me I am kind of scared. Right now my friend found me a nice deal on a s36b36 going for 500euro 100000km but i think it might be a hard swap. Thats why i would like to know how your swap goes.

Thanks
Chris
