remote key program?

Hi,
Does any one know if it's possible to program the fob key to use with the 97' 5 series? Bought a key but don't know if it's even possible to program it... any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm always mad, it is in my user name.

99% people who tried to find out if they can program the keys on their own want to steal it, 50% people who go program the keys at the dealership want to steal it, so go figure.

if you want a spare key that works, just go to BMW and order one and bring your car in for programming.

Are you refering to programming the remote function to lock/unlock your car?
If so then sit inside your car and ensure all the doors are unlocked

2.Turn the ignition key to position 1 and then off, pull out key.
3. Hold the key close to the rear view mirror and hold down the unlock button.(arrow)
4. While holding the unlock button down press the center button three times.
5. Release the unlock button.

If you are successful then the locks will lock then unlock.

thanks for the no "non-sense" reply mark, guess some ppl on the board just pretend they know everything and talk sxxx... cuz they got a 540IA and 19" rims??!
