I rented the first one Tues night to re-watch it.... so when I went to the theater last night to see part 2 it was all still fresh in my head. IMO part2 was better... the final battle took like 30min!!!

you really have to read the books to follow the story. It's very complex.
part two is wayyy more exciting than the first one.
part three is also much more exciting
Of course you do require a certain degree of nerd to enjoy it. There are two major types of nerds. space nerds (star trek, star wars) and fantasy nerds (lord of the rings)
I'm really only down with lord of the rings .. i used to watch star trek when i was 13. i guess im a bit of both.

yea, the beginning is all storyline, they develop what happens in the end.. I love fight scenes, although they could have shown more of the end of them.
I thought the special effects were really good especially when the dam blew.

I really liked the first one.. It's a great adventure movie without the hollywood hype. If your into any fantacy/adventure the "lord of the rings" book basicly started it all.
Can't wait for two towers to come out on DVD.. I hate Movie theatres. kids screaming, people caughing, some idiot smaking on popcorn, bad sound quality

There is a third type of nerd... total nerd. That would be me. I love all sci-fi and a lot of the fantasy Lord of the ring type stuff. Any of you guys read Larry Niven?
