Accessory Belt, Water Pump what do i need to change?

Hello all,

I am driving a 99 E46 323i, I have roughly 110K on it, I see there are cracks on the accessory belts, minor one for the steering pump and bigger one for the a/c belt. I was reading other posts on the internet, and people tends to replace the water pump at the same when replacing the belt, but my mechanic said that you do not need to change it unless it is dripping, and he only recommends to replace the belts only. Therefore, I want to know what fellow E46 members had done, what else you have replaced, and how much does it cost?

Thank you all!

In my personal opinion its all a judgement call. Some people will tell you to replace only the belts and some will tell you to replace the pump as well. If you have never replaced the waterpump, I would replace it with the belts as well as the idler pulleys. In this way, you can save yourself some labour costs if, for instance, 10k down the road your waterpump goes. The key is to find out if it has ever been replaced. If i'm not mistaken, your car originally came with a waterpump with plastic empeller(sp??), which in most cases was replaced under warranty period with a more durable one with a metal empeller.

We can give you a great deal on your waterpump and belts replacement!

We also use the metal impeller pump!

Call me or pm for more details!

My belts was cracking when i did my inspection 2 at bimmersport and they told me that will be a good idea to change the water pump (metal impeller pump) and the thermostate at the same time and that's only cost me $180 extra for the parts and labour.
