Smile e39 with sport or with out??

Hello everyone,

My 528i will be totaled from the insurance. I drove a clean, excellent condition black/black 2000 528i with the sport package, I had the car for 7 years and I LOVED IT! not the fastest but I loved getting in that car and how it felt. It was my first car and pride and joy ♥

Now, I have to look for a new car, and I'm leaning towards 530i Sport but they seem hard to find. So I wanted to hear what all you experts, and those have way more experience than me, feel about SPORT vs. Not? Should I settle for just an 530i? Or it's worth the search for a sport one?

Looking forward to your opinions and thank you for your time!

IMO i would look not just for sport, but an M-sport; its as close to an M5 as it gets, but without the cost! Altho the cars are mostly the same, its the SMALL details that make it so much better looking and enjoyable. But whatever you do, find a CLEAN one!!!

IIRC the sport has:
-nicer rims
-sport seats
-sport suspension
-M steering wheel and shift knob

Out of these items I think the rims and suspension are the big ones. Most people change rims and suspension like they are changing their underwear so just get a non-sport and let the upgrades begin.

There is a 2002 530i that Ihave my eye on, clean with very low miles. The description says Sport M Pack. Is there a easy way to tell the difference between M and the regular Sport by looking at the car?

Be careful as a LOT of people claim an "M package", but it does not have it!
You can tell right away; it should have M5 style bumper (with slightly different mesh), M5 rear bumper (will a specific diffuser for single exhaust), sport interior with seats and steering wheel, M door sills, M door moldings, and black roof liner/pillers. If you post a pic or link, we can tell right away.

To me the rear bumper does not look different from what mine did.

This is the car...

That is just a regular sport, not the true M-Pack, as previously posted, there is extra little cosmetic flare to the M-Bumpers, it's missing the trunk spoiler...

Thank you guys! Guelphguy your car is beautiful

They are asking $16,000 USD for the 2002 I posted pictures of. The car is clean and only has 53k miles, maybe about 90k km?. Is that a reasonable price? Or is overpriced? Considering too that it's out of state.

Thanks

That sounds like a lot to me...you should be getting an M5 for that price....I thought I paid a lot for mine, which was 2 years ago, 14,000 with 116,000KM, I felt I paid a little more since the condition and history of the car was excellent, but really it seemed to me that they were in 10-14,000 range back then.

Considering it will be close to $20K by the time it gets plated here, its a LOT of $$$ for any 530 non-M, low milage or not!

Definitely with sport, and don't get the 525i. I had the 530i sport and I loved it is power and handling, but that was totaled so I bought a 525i. It's lacking in power (just a bit), and has a lot of body roll in corners. I would even say buy a 540i as I read it does not burn gas a lot more than a 525i/530i. Actually, my 530i burned slightly less gas than my 525i!

But above all, buy a CLEAN car...that's the reason I bought my car because it's pretty clean. No big headaches so far (almost a year). I paid $9,000 with tax but it had 175,000 km on it.

Good luck.
