why an s38? they are not all that fast in an e34, it'll be even slower in an e32.

S38 is expensive to maintain, its complicated, let's say you got lucky and got the 3.8L and 6spd, you'll be shelling out good several grand, the 3.8L only has 340hp with like 260 or something lb of torque. And that's if you can find one, most likely you'll get a 3.5L, and that's even slower, an e39 540 can easily out accelerate an e34 m5 from 0-100km/h, they simplly don't have enough torque stock. A stock E34 M5 does like low 14s stock in the 1/4, + another couple hundred pounds, you'll be lucky if you can break mid 14s, personally I think that's very laughable, unless you go turbo, then you would dump another 10k or more into an engine that you can't get parts from regular parts places.

unless you are extremely mechanically inclined, I honestly don't see the point of spending so much money and go so slow. Not to mention have you seen how much S38 parts are now days??? its cheaper and faster just to buy an e34 m5 instead of doing that whole swap.

Most logical thing is rebuild the engine you have and turbo it, if swap is a must, I can only see m62 being another logical one, good torque, good power, lot cheaper parts.

and remember, any swap will give you huge amount of headache.

Really, may be this is a way to go
Less expensive than engine swap and much more fun.

so they just leave the stock ecu to handling the fuel? thru their spec list for the 635, I only see an RRFPR was added for fuel, and MSD for igintion. And that's pretty decent for amount of the power it makes.

yea I was looking through their site as well, for the ammount of power that you could get out of the engine, plus the fact that it would be realiable, maybe this is the way to go.... Sounds better the more I think about it
