I paid $1500, according to the UVIP it was worth anywhere from $2650 to $5150. I know I got an amazing deal...

Back on topic, Flav, I think some of the posters are saying just leave the car with one of the shops, let them diagnose it. My money was on the faulty coil but now I'm not sure.

Yup, today's the big day. Charlie's gonna take a look at it in like an hour. Just woke up, I could barely sleep all night. (half cause of the car, half cause I reversed my sleeping pattern during the break hehe)

NO COMPRESSION on cylinder I had pointed out.

I honestly don't know what to do. I don't feel like putting a new engine in a car that has a bunch of other problems (most irritatingly, the rust and rebuilt title.)

In the back of my mind I knew I was driving the poor old puppy too hard.

did Bimmersport do a leak down test on all cylinders? if so what is the results of the other 5 cylinders.

He did compression on one other one. Said was very good. With 4 or 5 cranks it went up to 180 on his dial but would've went further if I kept cranking.

hmm.. really.. he should of done a complete test on all cylinders. that way you/he will know if the engine is worth rebuilding or scrapping.. ah well.. RMP!

How much does a rebuild cost, appx? like 1500??

Let's say I rebuild the engine. Will it be practically like new and I'll have peace of mind? That's also the reason I don't really feel like putting another used engine in...it will cost me like 1200 put in and may just fail again.

Depends what you want to do as a rebuild. There isn't just one kind of rebuild.
you gotta figure out where you're losing compression.

I see...I thought a rebuild would take care of ANY problems they see inside...but yea I guess the problems vary.

Charlie's best guess is that the piston ring is messed cause there was oil on the sparkplug but he said you have to take the head off and see if the valve is bent and whatnot else to check all the problems for sure. But that's a 2-3 hour job in itself, and then you gotta take the engine out to fix/rebuild.
