Sweet, I love hearing stories like this.

But seriously though, if it has that much power and torque, and only does 0-60 in 6.2 it must really have some horrible gearing, or a really inefficient driveline.

I also think it is all wheel drive ... so that is a part of the problem.

but no matter what it is - it is slower then our under 300hp 540s !!!.
in other words ... a 2000 540 is cheaper, faster, more fuel efficient, funner to drive, better handling and more luxury then the charger ... the only things that's missing is the warranty ... :"(

Yeah, the lack of warranty and the several thousand a year in maintenance. Its part of the package

HEMI's are very inefficient powertrains from the factory. Minor mods are known to make significant power gains though.

Nice Kill.

the cars are so evenly matched, I would say he backed off after seeing you wern't racing, and thats when you reeled him in. I would like to see an actual drag race at the strip.

they're not that evenly matched, the Charger does 0-60 in 6.2sec, while the 540i 6speed does it in 5.8sec, 0.4sec is a lot when it comes to racing

could be possible, the problem with numbers that magazines come out with are always incorrect, the weather, temp & driver is a few major factors in getting the good numbers.

you doubters ... , you bring a smile on my face.

I also drove a charger a few days later .... and then it was clear to me why I gained on this guy so much so fast .....
BMWs numbers are always conservative and everyone elses numbers are almost always too optimistic. that's why no Infinities, Lexuses or whatever other cars that show same or better Hp numbers get beaten by me every time I race them. And don't tell me I don't know when they race and when they back off ...
I drag raced a e60 550(probably auto) a few month ago ... I was constantly pulling away and gained more then the car length up to 80kmh and then he started to catch up. then we both backed off at the next light. we nodded to each other and drove off ...
