Retarded BMW Durham parts guy.

So I walk in to the dealership today, and I ask for an alternator v-belt. it takes him like 5 minutes to look it up, and then goes and gets me a friggn timing belt.. wtf? aren't you supposed to be a part specialist?! i sat their explaining him the difference between the two, and I then i had to show him on the computer diagrams what it was. who knows how many times he gave out the wrong product to people unaware or inexperienced. dont they train these people or make sure that they have some mechanical background... he cant even figure out a v-belt on an e30

How about relax and help him learn instead of criticizing. Perhaps he just started this job. Did you know everything when you started your job?

I have found some pretty useless parts guys at various dealers, not just BMW. Problem is, most of them don't like being corrected, and give attitude, thinking that I'm just a dumbass kid that doesn't know anything about cars (the older parts guys), and yet they always **** something up, or can't even figure out something basic.

No I agree with Hades, the parts guys at Durham dont know older BMWs if it hit them in the face.... they are kinda snobby too at that, they wouldnt even help me out with my CD changer when I needed the cartridge... I ended up getting some help with that at BMW Toronto, at least the guy there was nice and willing to help

note to self: Dont go to Durham unless you want a more expensive part for a cheaper part you ask for.

yeah marco's awesome... but that other asian lady that worked there a while back was useless. Even when i gave her the part number she screws it up some how. Some times i had to even walk her through the etk.

who said I wasn't relaxed. he was actually a really nice guy, and i never said anything to him in a demeaning manner. i am just saying that the dealership is responsible for hiring or training qualified parts people. i mean their parts are so over priced that you'd think they would spend a bit on training. besides, i only buy negligible things like belts or bolts from there coz its not worth it going far to save like 2 dollars.

the parts guys at budds' bmw in hamilton and oakville are always helpfully friendly and know what they are talking about, and if they don't know something they find out for me. Now that's what I call service

Guy I usually deal with is Bart at Budds' Hamilton, great guy and knows his stuff.
