e30 headers?

why is it that most headers i see for an 84 318i say for manual transmission only? is it a fitment issue or something mechanical that they wont work on an automatic?
thanks to anyone who can help.

LOL. what trevor is trying to say is there is no point of putting headers on an automatic 318i because you will never really get the chance to get anything out of the headers since its a automatic, so it would be a waste unless u did a 5spd swap.
