JL makes decent stuff........ but it's NOT the cleanest nor does it have the best sound quality in the industry. JL has been bling-out to death on TV and everywhere else. It became the "Stuff" to have, regardless of whether or not it was crap. Flavour of the year....... choice of the playa. People would buy it for the name alone, and most of the time would have NO idea what it sounded like at all. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on this, but I don't remember JL winning very often in SQ world championships from what I've seen/heard. It's good stuff, but call a spade a spade.

JL defiantly has the name going for them. I don't think choice of the playa though. Thats bling bling audiobahn.
I bought mine based off reviews. I read and good things I heard, plus listening to it in the stores.
Its def quality stuff but there is better out there. However my w3v2 has been kicking ass for about 4 years now. You can't go wrong with JL but you can defiantly do better.

ok jl does have a name but thats because they earned it. They are not the bling bling sub to get at all. They are some of the planest looking out there. The 2007 models are just solid black and thats about it. Audiobahn is the bling bling and you get what you pay for which is all the chroming they have to do on every sub which is not cheap. I have not read a bad review of JL and they have been named one of the top subs of the year by car audio magazine. If your in doubt about JL sit in my car for a minute it'll change your mind. I have JL speakers subs and amps and I am extremely happy. I have a question though....what do you consider the best for sq??

Image dynamics use to have a subwoofer..... the IDW series. That. Best SQ sub for the *money* hands down now is the Image Dynamics IDQ series. I'm not a fan of the IDMAX. I'm also a huge fan of the new-ish DLS 6" mini sub. Fantastic stuff.
Dynaudio is great, but WAY overpriced for what you get. But good stuff non the less in my opinion.
Rainbow use to make a nice SQ driver.
However, rite now, if I was forced to make a decision on the very best, I don't have an answer. There's very good....... but nothing that blows me away, from the car audio industry anyways.

JL has a new sub coming out for those that space is limited to them, and it is flat and all it needs is about 5 or 6 inchs of depth....there is a couple of subs that are the same too...

i had focal ...the k2 series..
the highest u can go is the utopia series for foal speakers which are amazing
i donno if that serious has a sub..i kno they have components that come in a protective metal case...
but now in my m3..i run a single 12 clarion which ****in poundssss
that with my focal components - golden for moi
if u want sound quality...GO FOCAL..nothin comes close, even a clarion rep told me that focal is number 1, and previously workin for an audio shop i kno they are the best for SQ.and they poundd...pricey though

Ok so one of my friends bought 1 12" Audiofonics ADF-292 this past summer. I know your all thinking "what the hell is audiofonics". Check out this link,
http://www.carreview.com/cat/car-aud...5_1808crx.aspx
Thats one of the loudest/hard hitting 12's ive ever herd. He got it tested and got 140 db's. For 1 12" thats pretty good considering how much it costs. It weights 65lbs. I thought this sub would be a joke but I was way wrong....

Focal is pretty awesome stuff................. but I don't like their tweeters. But the mid-midbass drivers are very sweet in their higher end stuff. I'll be honest and say I can't remember if I've had a chance to sit around and critically listen to the Focal subs............... although I know I have judged many cars with them. But that wasn't using my music.............. the music I know and like to listen to.
Anyways, I've heard a lot of reps talk sh*t............... most of them don't know a dang thing when it comes to higher end SQ. There's only a very few people that I've run into over the years that I can honestly say actually know their stuff SQ wise. And even fewer of those people that know their SQ stuff AND can actually build it and make it work.
Anyways, at the end of the day, this is the shweetest stuff out there you can git........... I present to you the Sound Q Series:
