MB Quart speakers
I'm looking at buying a new set of speakers for my 94 BMW 325is
I just bought a new(actually a 2004 model but new condition) Kenwood Excelon KDC-X979. I have a zapco 2 chnl 360 watt for my 2 12" JL WO (want to get W3 V2 soon) and a zapco 2 chnl 200 watt for the front speakers and I'm looking into getting another for the rear speakers.
I've been looking at MB Quart Discus 5 1/4" components but I have never heard these speakers. I know MB is known to have great sounding products but this is their entry level speaker line. How does it compare to the likes of JL speakers or Alpine. I know the higher end MB stuff sounds great but its also considerably more expensive than what I'm looking at.
Any info or insight is appreciated.

I was at future shop today and the guy there told me that MTX is the best speaker around right now....they have less than a 1 percent return rate in north america...which means they last well beyond the warranty period

Don't ever ask anyone at Future Shop for audio advice again.

my bro's got alpine type r components and I'm not a fan. JL components are nice, as are focal. for the money, you can't go wrong with MB Quart. They sound great

Im running (4) 6.5'' MBQ Premium Components in my E28 and accoustically they are amazing speakers. I do notice they cannot handle the bass as well as the alpines, but when it comes to the highs, you'll blow up your ears before you blow up the speakers. There run by a JL 300/4. and to fill the bass, a JL 12w6v2 with a JL 500/1. Alpine 9835 unit. At the time when i had bought my stereo MBQ had 4 lines of speakers, Discus, something else, Premium, & the Q Line. The Q line were just outrageous in price, but aparantally they are outstanding components. and the Discus are their bottom of the line average components.

Lots of people with Beemers I know are using DLS from Sweden cause they drop in and sound fantastic......... UP or UR series. Another brand I recently found out is suppost to be great is Morel because it sounded fantastic. Came from a friend whom I respect as he has an awesome ear for car audio.
Anyways............... there's a lot of "Stuff" out there that gets recommended because it was the bling of the month, etc............ or dealers pushing stuff only cause they have old stock they wanna dump. So do your homework. Don't get taken tot he cleaners by some fast talkin'...........
