How bout your parents learn how to drive standard? If they can afford a Bmw they should be smart enough to manage this simple task
Not all adults prefer to drive manual. Many old people (ie. OP's parents, for example) don't want to deal with shifting gears all the time for a daily driver car. It's quite normal for "family cars" driven by older people to be automatic. They just don't want to deal with the shifting of a manual car every single time they are on the road. Having an automatic is a huge bonus. My father has an auto 330Ci, but prefers a manual in a weekend/"fun" car. I can't picture him driving a manual for his daily hauler. It's just an annoyonce at those ages.
