i had a recent post regarding an m42 swap into a 1985 e30 318 m10 peice of wood. I have the m42 engine, mounts, ecu, and wiring harness. Tranny is on its way but now i wanted to know if i also have to change the driveshaft or will the stock 5spd 318 m10 driveshaft work for me.....i know i had to change almost everything already because the m10 is not really interchangeable with anything else......if someone can help by pm'ing me or posting a sure answer that would be great.....
it SHOULD. according to the bentley, both the m10 and m42 were mated to the getrag 240. the best way is to drop the engine/tranny in and try to fit it. if it doesnt, im sure theres a bmw at some junkyard thatll have one that fits...
