Tailight bulb refuses to light up
Hey,
I noticed my rear-right taillight (the one that comes on with the headlights) doesn't work. I went to the dealer to buy a bulb (couldn't find the right one at Canadian Tire). I put it into the holder, and turned it into the tailight. Still not working. So I took the holder with the new bulb and put it on the left tailight, it works. WTF is going on? It used to work!

^^ Flav, check the metal circuit on the tail ass'y. could be you have a burn thru on the contact. If so, let me know i can re-solder that for you in a jiffy.

Check the contacts on the holder, try sanding down the corrosion if there is any.

I had the same problem, What happened is that the contact from the tail light circut board to the bulb was corroded/burn.
I took them out, and soldured another peice of alluminum so that the contact was long enough...

^^ First things first...Check your bulbs. When it comes on, get out of the car and make someone hit the brakes to make sure they light up. When the light is out and if the come on. Then you know it's a short somewhere..
If it's your 96 do like the other guys did and check the circuit board.

I fixed it guys. I sanded the connectors. It still doesn't work when the bulb holder is fully snapped and turned in, but I moved it a tiny bit from full snapped in position and it works

Another question. Should these bulbs come on when you press the brakes, or just the ones specifically for brakes? (smaller). Cause I figured, why else would they have dual filament, but neither left or right of these ones that come on w/ the headlights come on when I brake.

Check the connections like I did.
BUt guys, my above question still stands unanswered. WHy would it be dual filament if it lights up at one brightness all the time, whether braking or not.
