IX engine Swap
Has anyone ever done this? I know the IX has a unique oilpan to allow for the front drive shaft.
Is there an easy fit for a replacement oilpan on a M/S5x?
Does anyone have a custom oilpan for this function? Or know of anyone that can do it?
How different is the IX oilpan from fitting other motors?
Please help, if I can't do the swap then I'll be looking at a 3.0L stroker. If anyone has any info on this too, please let me know.
Thanks

well that will be something i will have to look at if its possible, i may have to look at custom driveshafts F/R maybe transfer case and Diffs, who knows. If I go for the Stroker, the low end power added may destroy my drive shafts too, thats why im looking for input.
Thanks

the IX drivetrain cant handle s50 power, maybe m50 but u would have to i guess get a custom oil pan made to clear w/e need to be cleared..and even if u get that far i dont think its gonna last long...just get some bolt-on mods for ur m20 and thats about it....

yes turbo would rip up the drivetrain as well and maybe even the motor if the internals arent beefed up to handle boost...if u rly want power, find an RWD e30 and start from there..

You do the basic both-ons,19lbs injecters,afm(m30),header and stuff, throttle body and a MarkD chip that is all you go with safety anyways...

yea...the front axel shafts are weak...other than that you should be good to go...I heard of one guy with a turbo-ed M20 in his iX and had no trouble doing repeated 6k clutch dumps...just make sure your Xfer case is in really good shape...shouldn't be too impossible, I've seen people putting m70's in E30's so I guess anything is possible...
