E30 Steering Rack

Now, everybody knows that it takes about a week to turn from lock to lock on the E30. Which steering rack do you guys recommend, E30 M3 or Z3?

I've heard the 95 M3 rack is the one to get...3.0 Turns lock to lock as oposed to 4.0 in the stock E30. I believe the E30 M5 is 3.5, and 96+ M3 is 3.25. The smaller MtechII wheel helps a little, but its still pretty slow!

E30 M5? That's a new one!!

Seriously though, I'm really happy with my 3.2 lock to lock standard E36 rack, especially since they are DIRT cheap (think $100 with the power steering lines).

hmm, judging from what Tomek just posted, that means the regular e36 and the 96+ M3 racks are the same, correct me if I'm wrong.

I have a stock e36 rack in my e30.

U definetly notice the difference compared to the stock e30 steering rack.

Definetly recommend it as an e30 upgrade.

correct

Also, remember that not all Z3 racks are 2.7 turns lock to lock.

i am happy with 96+ e36m3 rack (i think same as all other non 95m3 racks - 3.2)
heard 95m3 and quicker 2.7 z3 racks are almost the same in quickness, but talked to MentalKev and he told me that it's a bitch to drive with one of those with stiff suspension on highway, as all little bumps and shakes transmit to the steering input and are really noticable with the very quick ratio. Otherwise it's probably a blast on track/autox
