Car: who knows I lost track
|
Installing small system just one question !
Hello guys,
I though I would do a little upgrade to my stock system this is what I am doing:
- Alpine IVA-D310 7" Wide DVD/MP3 Receiver DVD
- Focal 130V2 components front end
- 2 8" subs that replace the stock speaker in the rear
- Phoniex Gold 4 channel amp 600.4
I was wondering if anyone has a similar set up and what can I expect with sound quality and bass.
Thanks

Its up to you.. I take it your trying to avoid having a box in the trunk? But a single 10" or 12" should give you better bass and less headaches
Ive been running a alpine deck, 5 1/4 component and single 10" for 3 years now without any complaints or problems. It's pretty much the standard a well balanced. dual 8's would be different but if your running them in "free air" (no enclosure) you may not be satisfied by the depth of sound.

Well its not free air per say. Its specifically molded to take the spot of the rear speakers so when it is installed it will be enclosed. I dont care for the bass just sound quality

Yeah sorry Slowered318 forgot to mention that. Yeah a free air would do nothing for me. I know trust me I have been in the audio game a while. I once had 4 12" Xmax phoniex gold subs, powered by a zx 500 and a killer front end powered by a zx 350. I was hitting 141 db steady. Could hit higher db but it was a trunk enclosure all done by Kennedy Hi-fi.
I should be happy with the results though
I found out my prefab enclosure where off a 4 door. Holes are in the wrong spot but they will just drill new ones. Can wait to here how it sounds. Also told them to fire it up and here how it sounds. If there is rattle I told them to find it and sound deaten it. He said there shouldnt be that must because it is bolted right up to the rear deck. Can't wait to hear it
