I personally find that the lights in the mirrors are ugly. I don't know if i would consider it "rice", but if you have all kinds of other lights on the car (sidemarkers/fogs...), you might look a bit like a christmas tree at night! I say leave the original ones on, as they look nicer than the cheap "rounded" m3 mirrors.
