e30 325is vs 92 civic hatch with H22

Before i get to the civic race i will tell you about the race before it.

As a warm up i raced against my buddy's 2000 pontiac grand prix gt. It's lightly modded and can hold its ground in the first half of the race. I had raced him earlier in the fall when he had his chromies and just an intake. I would walk all over him every run we went. Just recently He got his pipes done and now no longer has the notorius U-bend that can really hold that car back. no 19 inch chromies either.

Along with some other minor mods that he has done now we went for a go last night. I went a little to cocky into this race and was surprised tat he was able to keep up so tightly the first half of the race. Not untill maybe 3rd gear i would really pull on him and take off. Even 2 times from the line he would take me. Keep in mind i had 2 bad launches. Anyways now it was a much closer race. I can't say that i walked all over him. Maybe beat him by 2-3 cars once we opened up. Although the 3rd race were i got a good luanch i took him hard.

I decided to let him race the civic first. Off the line he would eat the civic and maybe up until the civic would be going into 3rd he was leading and then the civic with the97 prelude engine would just walk all over it. beat it by maybe 4-5 cars.

So now it's my turn. After seeing him race the grand prix i was sure it was gonna be bad for me too. I had raced an integra GSR (98 liighlty modded: headers, exhaust, intake, and cam work) recently and lost by 2 cars. I figured the prelude engine in a small civic like that would be crazy fast.

We go for the first run. Right from the get go i start spanking him. 1st, 2nd, 3rd i was in the lead by 1-2 cars. Once he got into higher revs in 3rd he started catching up and not until 4th gear pass me and beat me in the end by half a car. Same thing happened in the second run.

I must say thought that i am very impressed with the performance of my e30. Considering that now i don't own a 325e lol. Its a big difference from the 325e with 121 hp to a much peppy 325is with much more hp. Anyways it was a great run and we had fun that night. It was good to see some close races. I'll keep you guys posted on how this summer goes lol!

I raced an intergra GSR last summer and no matter if its off the line or a rolling start, I took him no problem. I think with minor mods to your E30 you would be able to take a GSR. As for the H22 now alot of civics have them, and alot played around with their gear ratios.

1/4 mile should be just at the beginning of 4th gear for a E30 ..So technically you beat him on the 1/4 mile

Either way despite the lighter weight of the civic.. Torque is still king

A H22 in a bubble should be doing low 14's no problem with a competant driver (I've have had to friends that were pulling 14.1's in Civic coupe's on street tires - Motomasters - w/ full interiors)... this is on a stock H22 motor, as long as everything is working as it should...

I'm 100% sure that u'r E30 is not a low 14 sec car... even with tho's mods... but it seems more like the races you're having are more of a drivers race.

As for torque... the H22 make decent torque, and still makes 220 HP... so either way you slice it, in a civic hatch it shouldn't be hard for the civic to win.

Alan, consider your win a lucky one. An H22 bubble shoulda killed you with the proper driver and good traction (a problem with today's cold temps). Your E30 won't do better than a 15.6s quarter with your current mods.

i dont know why people bother to compare these vehicles... everyone knows a bubble with an H22 is simply a FAST mofo for not alot of dough.
