Any Engineers or rocket scientists?

Well I'm just planning a bit way ahead of time, but by Spring/Summer of 2003 I want to have at least built a home made camera mount. However I am not sure how to go about it. I want to use parts where you can simply pick up from home depot, whatever, vs. spending a couple hundred of dollars for a fancy one.

I'm looking into making one where the camera mount can clamp onto the headrest post of the seats and also a suction cup version which can be placed inside the car.

Well if anyone has any ideas or where to start please feel free to throw some ideas so that I can have something ready by spring/summer!

check this link

I myself have no experience with this kind of stuff but I wanted to get into it too and found this link the other day from DTMpower .net
http://www.schnazzy.com/articles/full/mount1.htm

There was also a post on DTM with some more detail on the components necessary to build it, but I cant seem to find it right now.

Hope that helps

can I work on this with you?
I've ALWAYS wanted to build something like this as well

first thing you'll need is a headrest from a wrecker so we can use some of the factory parts that it has already.

attach a mounting plate if there isn't one already to both stems that go into the seat.

next you'll need to buy a cheap goodwill/thrift store tripod
unbolt the mount, or hacksaw it off if it wont unbolt

bolt/weld the mount onto the mounting plate

yeah schnazzy's mounts are CRAZY!
they look like full blown professional devices.

I think i'd be happy with the mount that suction cups to my window. I have a few of those highpressure suction cups around my basement because I use them for my portable drill press.

Hey Djcontra, I think it'd be a cool project that we can work together on LOL.

The time I'd probably have to work on this would be...
Christmas Break, reading week, and when I finish school around April.

I'm at McMaster now though, where abouts are you? Aren't you in Burlington or something?

Hey Djcontra, I dugged up a couple of DIY camera mounts from the audi forums and saved it on my computer for the time being!
