Deck Installation
Hey guys, I just bought a Pioneer 5800MP for the car and was wondering, how hard is it to do myself and do I just need to buy the harness from like Best Buy? Is rewiring the amp necessary or am I just connecting wires? Never done a deck install so wondering if I should just do it myself or take it in. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Milan.

its not that hard, dont just start cuting wires tho, go to a audio shop and get the wiring harnis (spelling?) for your car this may cost you like 20$ish but then you just plug it in to the old wiring and sodder away...i dont know if you can get it from best buy. a shop could order it if they dont have it in stock. and then your go to go
have fun

Soldering is easy as pie, but you can always just ghetto-rig it with electrical tape etc.

it would be fine unless the wires came apart, wich could happen, then you have to take it all out and do it again sodering is easy if you want to learn but if not you can get "wire conectors" that you crimp with wire crimpers or you could use plires if you dont have wire crimpers, you can buy the conectors at crapy tire they are about 1in long and look like a littel tube. and you want the pink ones, they come in differnt sizes but the pink ones are the right size for you. you just stick a wire in each end crush the pink tube on them give a light tug to make sure it got them and the tape to be safe. they will cost lik at the most 2$ this works
good luck

Awesome thanks a lot, and those connectors are the things that look kinda like caps or something right? I might've used them in wiring my basement.
Thanks a lot,
Milan.

i dont know what this site is but it has a pic of the conectors you want, but you want the pink ones like a said befor they are the right size, theys are to big but you can see what they look like, go to crapy tire and get some
hope all goes well

there called butt connectors, you can get them most anywhere like 100 for a buck or two, very easy and clean, i usualy crimp my wires, then wrap in electrical tape to keep out moisture and to keep it clean looking. make sure you connect your amp wire or you will get no sound

i dunno if canada has walmart, but if you do, go to their electrical section. they'll have a set of 50 or so terminals and a wire splicer. won't cost you more than a couple bucks for pretty much all you'll need.
if not, these connecters i like better for audio installations:
http://www.acehardware.com/product/i...archId=1304476
they're just a little confusing at first, but basically all you do is stick one wire in one side and one wire in the other side, slide down the metal piece and close the cap. rock solid - and a bitch to reverse if you **** up lol.
