Shop for Interior work

I'm new here, just bought a 73 Tii California car which will be shipped here within the next few weeks. Engine & drivetrain are great, needs paint and some interior work. Can someone recommend a shop in the GTA who can:

-recover Recaros and rear bench to match
-new full carpet install
-headliner
-reskin dash

Thanks and look forward to meeting some local owners!

what did they say?

Could you post some prices from the quote they gave you?

I am also interested in recovering recaros, but I would also be interested in knowing the prices for the other services.

Once I get the quote, no problem.

I called and Serge quoted me the following:

$1200 Recaros recovered with vinyl
$1500 Recaros recovered with leather
$2000 with back seat as well
$2500 approx with headliner, dash reskin and custom carpet

Seemed like a nice guy, said he owned a Tii "50 years ago". I got the sense that they work on a lot of newer BMW's. I'm going to go check out his shop.

How's it going '73 tii? I've been looking at maybe buying an '02 from the states and was wondering what it would cost to bring the car over to Canada. I live in Hamilton so the cost would be about the same as T.O.
Cheers, Martin.

Hey Martin,

It's about $2,000 from San Franciso where I'm getting the car from. I'm using Searail, they send a truck to California and pick up the car and then drive it to Vancouver and rail it from there. It's less than $1000 from Vancouver for rail so if you get a car in the North West US, you can drive it across the border yourself.

The other option is to look for a car in NC, SC, Georgia where you could drive down in 15 hrs with a trailer and pick it up.

If I was more adventurous I'd drive it back from California myself.

Here is the site for what you need to cross the border www.riv.ca

Good luck with your search.

Update: I found a way to ship from California to Buffalo for half the cost of Searail...about $1000 USD. Should have the car in about 2 weeks.

Or...you could buy one locally (don't mean to hijack). I've got a '73tii sitting in georgetown at the moment...just waiting for a tune-up before sale. just did new paint - Agave on tobacco interior. Lemme know if you have any interest.

Actually a car as old as a 2002 doesn't need to go through the RIV program- just pay GST, 6.5% duty (approx) and 100 surtax if the car has AC. American made cars don't have to pay the duty.

Good point, my mistake. No RIV fee, can't believe duty is still applied on a car this old, that sucks.
