Its a small light at the top of the headlights, you can see it here. (its the same in E34's and E30's I suspect)

Jeremy,
The Hella Smoked Elips all have the "city lights". To make a l_o_n_g story short, in Europe at night your not susposed to drive in town with your low beams on. So they have these "city lights" that use a 5 watt bulb that is used in the city. Also I have noticed that some motorist leave them on when the car is parked along the street so at night no one runs into their car. Don't ask me why however Most people in the states basicly use them as day time running lights. Here is a pic of the hella smoked elips with the city lights on. This is Dave's m-technic cabrio.

As for the wipers good luck finding a set of them. However click HERE for a used set for sale. Your required to have a FLAT FACED headlight for them to work properly. The cibie flat faced ones are probally your cheepest and easiest bet if you find a set of the wipers

Re: e30 headlights... NICE
Well it seems that the high bid on the headlights was made by a certain "jeremybmw". Hmmmm! Now who could that be?
By the way, jeremy, your car looks great.
