Why not just find a decent MP3 deck instead of the ipod compatibility

For your price range, this one suits all your needs

http://www.alpine-usa.com/en/product...model=CDA-9856

but I would for over a bit more and go with this one.

The prices are usually less than advertised on the site.

The one I posted was $230 USD. I'm sure you can find a dealer that will sell it for 200.

how do you like the alpine 9856?? 2001 audio video also has it on for 299.99.

I'm thinking about getting one! but I hate the fact they took off features of their headunits.

Manual fold down for eject: how inconvenient is it?

i'm loving the deck, it is a little harder to find certain songs but i love it. still getting used to it from my plain sony deck. this one has a lot more features that i need to find out about.
for $300 i think its a really good price. the 9857 has the dot matrix display and a few extra features but for my use of it, the 9856 is good enough.
for the eject and fold down thing, i don't have any problems with it. press one button it folds down quick and press the eject button and thats it. no inconvience at all for me. i am using my ipod most of the time though.
