Get your subframe before it looks like this - PIC inside

Edit: Title should be: "Get your subframe CHECKED before it looks....."

Funny that there are a few threads on fixing subframes right now... Anyways, mine was a priority when I purchased the car, and I sure am lucky to have done it now. I might've ended up in pieces on the highway next week... Enjoy the pics

One side looked like this

And the other was already torn off..

And a nice job by my mechanic - done by PMI Racing in Montreal. Came out to 1200$ including the M3 plates.

man I've seen this happening so much now. Looks like a nice job.. get all that rust sanded down and undercoating applied before they bolt up the new rear subframe. I have my plates sitting beside me waiting to get installed.

DAMN, this JUST happened to my buddy who had a 92!

Are these at all common on the later E36's, like 98+. I know that 92-93's had weak subframes, but are the later ones know for this ever?

Half way through 97 all e36's came with the reinforcement plates from the factory... or so the fable goes. Haven't heard of this confirmed by anyone yet.

One of my buddies has an '01 325 and he also had to get his subframe reinforced. He laps his car at the track but still...
