Fuel Pump questions!!

How many fuel pumps does a (09/91) 1992 E36 325i have?

I was having some trouble with my car starting, and my friend knocked the fuel pump with a hammer, and the car started. He says that the car may have 2.

How do you know which fuel pump is going??...
And is there infact 2 fuel pumps??...
And if so... what is the average cost for these fuel pumps???

The e36 does in fact have 2 fuel pumps. because of the way the gas tank saddles the driveshaft it has a second pump on the drivers side to transfer gas to the sending unit on the passenger side.

tapping the pump with a hammer might have completed a corroded connection or made the electric pump motor kick in. the pump is probably on its way out.

e36 has 1 intank fuel pump. Lift up your rear seat and you will see it under a black cover. It is a single piece fuel level sender unit and fuel pump. The other side is just a fuel level sender unit, not an additional pump.

You can get them for around 200$ with taxes for the fuel pump. It's made by Siemens VDO.

Sporatic bogging, and stalling, followed by complete sponateous self repair, thats your symptom

the drivers side is fuel level? i pulled the passenger out to repair my fuel gage.

So I ask again... 1 fuel pump or 2??...
Because from the back seat, on both sides there are hoses connecting to it...

1 FUEL PUMP, geez.

both sides are fuel level! Drivers side is fuel level sender, the passenger side is fuel level and pump

What model is it pulled from??

And ur all the way out in London... and I have a car that is on a faulty fuel pump that can

just get a new one, who knows how long the old one will last you. Call precision tuning, Perjad can get the VDO for a good price.

Shit, ur right... Perjad got a new Bosch fuel pump for $260... not bad at all... when I was gonna pay $260 for some no name brand.
