Trillium AutoX - April 9, 2006
See everyone tomorrow at the AutoX. Same place and time as allways.
As per the trillum club website: http://www.trillium-bmwclub.ca/site/page.jsp?Autocross
The first car is away at 9:00 AM sharp! We open registration at 8:00 AM. Drivers meeting and walk-through will begin at 8:45 to 8:50. People arriving late may miss the orientation and walk-through. They may also miss the fun run. As we're usually pressed for time, late-comers often can not make up their runs.
Our host is MDS Sciex at 71 Four Valley Drive, Concord. They are located near Hwy 400 and Langstaff. See the map link below.
Registration form: http://www.trillium-bmwclub.ca/servl...me=ax06reg.pdf

Great event! Amazing turnout with the people and the weather.
A lot of really nice cars too - love that lotus. Too bad I can't fit in one

Nah, I'm good Tom, just mastered Taylor and Maclaurin series, on to more polar areas, moments of inertia, and differential equations (all easy compared to series).
Back on topic: Tom, how did you do? The layout looked to be "HP Friendly" and it didn't rain

Did fairly well. Have to fine tune a few things on the car. I will post a video of my better run later on this afternoon.
My main issue is steering during acceleration (or lack there of). As the car squats down, I can't make any steering inputs due to sudden front-to-back weight transfer. I'm going to put stiffer springs in the rear to hopefully resolve that. I'm running 500 all around, so I will try 600# in the back and maybe 450# in the front (stock is something silly like 150F and 275R).
Other than that, had the R-compounds out for the first time. They don't bite as well as I was hoping (cold) but once it warmed up (and I went around the block a few times before my last run) they do grip much better. They do take a long time to heat up. When I got off the highway coming home (all the way to mississauga) - they were ice cold! I coudn't believe it, but the Cups are supposed to last a long time so there's a benefit to that.
It was a blast watching nelson (thinair) go sideways everytime with the rear end coming loose (only R-comps in the front). Great runs none-the-less.
Had to go with only 4 runs as we had some other obligations.

Man was that a fun event. Although I really had no idea how much smoke was really comming off my tires on the first run when I spun out until I went around the turn around point near the 400 and saw a huge plume of white smoke.
Just wait till May 7th, I'll have all 4 R-comps on and hopefully no ABS issues (M3 rear brakes and master cylinder).
I'm also glad to see the Schiller brothers out again
So how many people from max actually attended this auto-x, the turn out was pretty decent? Like 41 drivers registered.
Here are the list that I saw: Thinair (Me), Empowerd, E30 Girl, JazzM, M3ntal Kev, Crusher, Zim Zimma, Hound, Ant118, 328DTM, Autotechnica, LVP, Rico328, Kirasir. Anyone else??
