Debaffle
Has anyone ever debaffled a 97 318 i did something to my car i think i did it right but not sure...i took off what looks like a small plastic tank next to the air box...now i think this is done right because the part i took off is before the filter which means no harm can be done.....but i just want to make sure

I did it on my car and a friend of mines car. You basically debaffle the air box by taking out that trumpet looking cone inside the air box out, its right behind ur air filter. I dunno how the 318 air box's look but on the 325's and 328's its pretty simple, and it sounds awesome, very minimal gains but still a gain. It sounds delicious though. lol

Debaffling is done INSIDE the airbox...I don't know what you might have taken out...the baffle looks like a funnel or trumpet as mentioned before...

Ya you basically need to remove the airbox (unscrewed easily) least thats how I did mine and then remove the piece that restricts the flow into the box and through the filter!

can you do this on an e34 535i? i looked at mine and the funnel looking thing that brings air into the airbox can only be removed by cutting it cause it is larger at both ends then where it passes through the box

Anthony, open your airbox and take some pics showing how to debaffle for a 318... our airboxes are retarded compared to 325/328/M3 airboxes.
you said you knew how to do it, when we were over to pick up the DEPO's!
