why are you guy's frownign upon this? its not the first time BMW's used turbo.

When this car comes out it'll be a modder's dream. One chip, and you'll be playing with the E92 M3's.

If they made a 3na that pushed the same hp as there 3turbo, u could take that na 3.5 and add a turbo on top of that 255hp, instead of needing it to get to 255, so without that turbo that motor doesn't make that many great numbers by the looks of it. Audi's for example, BMW has just as much hp with na engines as some audi's have with bi turbos. Imagine putting bi-turbos on a 2.5 BMW engine I'm sure it would make jus as much than the previous 261hp Audi S4 would if not more. BTW, I would still rock that BMW 3.5, having a stock turbo is not bad by any terms in my opinion, just thought the hp numbers would be higher. And yes those headlights are lookin really small for some reason? Did anybody see the program on speed channel on the making of the new 6 series? That was awesome programming!

Obviously BMW CAN make an NA motor with tons of power, and then just add a crazy amount of power, but its not really practical..... audi's have Bi-turbo's, so what, they lack something BMW has had since time.......

You have to look at the bigger picture.

First off. BMW is pushing for more power because the IS350 is beating BMW in terms of horsepower.

So What does BMW do? they go out and turbo a 3L to get just enough power to edge out the IS350, putting the 3 back on top of its category.

So why is the 335 so underpowered? Because they're still selling E46 M3's. You can't have a 335 that outperforms your top class. Same reasoning goes for the 3.5L. the E46 M3 is 3.3, it doesn't make sense to have a bigger engine than your top line.

The 335 is obviously very under-tuned, I'm sure chipping it will reveal some very impressive numbers.

also, I bet after the E90/E92 M3 comes out, we'll see a slight increase in power from the 335.

The 335i will be a major hit in the aftermarket, just like the 1.8T and 2.7T in VAG products, minor mods net huge returns.

Also remember that BMW wants a usable power range here, not peaky horsepower. They could make a 2.5L with 250hp, but why?
